23.03.2013 BBC 4 23:55: It’s Slade - top documentary

Top pop documentary, narrated by Radio One’s Mark Radcliffe, about one of Britain’s greatest and best-loved bands. Slade scored six number ones in the 70s, a feat rivalled only by Abba. Apart from Noddy and his bandmates – Dave Hill, Jim Lea and Don Powell – the cast here also includes Noel Gallagher of Oasis (who covered Cum On Feel the Noize), Status Quo, Toyah Willcox, Suzi Quatro and Ozzy Osbourne.

We love the 70s weekend, Butlin's, Minehead 15.3.2013

We had the coldest night of this winter in Finland today 13th March, -39 in Lapland, but in England it's getting much hotter at the weekend, when Slade are going to give their first (?) concert in 2013 on Friday 15th March at Butlin's in Minehead.

Winter is soon turning towards the spring and right now there's not much happening at the Slade front, but there are some good and great things going to happen later in the spring and this year:

*** Don's biography "Look Wot I Dun - my life in Slade" to be published

*** "Look Wot You Dun" – an evening with Noddy Holder 9.-19.5.2013

*** Slade concerts in the spring and summer: UK, Norway, Germany, Finland, Sweden

*** Slade fans meeting in Bilston 21.-22.6.

     - Slade gig at Robin 2, Bilston on Friday 21.6.

     - Fans party at the Lyndon House Hotel Saturday 22.6. (tel. 01922 612511),

        organised by Gary Sideway

Meanwhile, while waiting for more snow to come, you can  e.g. make snowmen!

"Genuine National Treasure, Godfather of Glam and thinking grandmother’s crumpet Noddy Holder looks back over a lifetime of towering achievements.

Re-live the heady days of the pop-tastic seventies as he recalls all-conquering Top of the Pops appearances, endless world tours, epoch defining anthems, thespian triumphs, and glue-ing some mirrors onto a top hat to change the face of fashion forever. From his early days on the West Midlands beat scene, including a stint as a roadie for Robert Plant, Nod charts his rise from shouty skinhead stomper to international pop-star.

Coaxing the anecdotal nuggets from the great man will be his close friend, confidante and personal dresser Mark Radcliffe. With a career spanning five decades the still astonishingly youthful Boltonion has written four books, released six albums, presented many TV programmes, most notably the BBC’s coverage of the Glastonbury Festival, and has presented shows on BBC Radios 1,2,3,4,5,6 and 7. He remains optimistic of a call from 1xtra and the Asian Network so he’ll have ‘got the set’.

So, forget about Noddy goes to Noddy comes to your town for a fun-packed evening."
