Don Powell will guest the Skægkær Blæserne in a Christmas concert in Skægkærskolens Hjerterum, Denmark on Tuesday 6th December 2011. Don was very satisfied with the rehearsals with the orchester on 1st December.
Vintage TV is airing an interview on Sky TV 369 or Freesat 515 on the 1st December 2011 at 8:00PM (UK time). The show runs for 45 minutes, titled "Dave Hill in conversation". He is interviewed by Mike Read ("Radio Wall Of Sound" announcer).

"Rockbandet Status Quo får fint sällskap under sin spelning i Örnsköldsvik 13 augusti. Glamrockspionjärerna i Slade spelar nämligen på Folkets park samma kväll.
– Vi är otroligt nöjda att kunna spetsa till evenemanget ytterligare med ett band som Slade. Jag är säker på att den här bokningen ger ett extra mervärde till alla de som gillar Status Quo’s musik. Banden kommer ju från samma era och har lyckats leverera hits under en förhållandevis lång period. Att de nu delar scen i Övik blir en riktig högtidsstund för musikälskare i stort, säger Andreas Olsson på arrangerande Go Event.
Inte förband
Slade började sin bana på 70-talet och har blivit kända med låtar som ”My Oh My”, ”Cum On Feel The Noize”, ”Mama Weer All Crazy Now”, ”Run Runaway” och ”Far Faraway”. – Det blir nästan konstigt att prata om förband och huvudband i det här sammanhanget. Det är bara att titta på Slades alla hits och framgångar sedan 70-talet och man inser att det är ett band som i allra högsta grad står på egna ben. Vi plockar helt enkelt hit två av Storbritanniens mest framgångsrika rockband genom tiderna, säger Andreas Olsson."
"De legendariska engelska rockbanden Slade och Status Quo gör gemensam sak och bjuder på nostalgirock på Folkets Park i Örnsköldsvik den 13 augusti. ... Slade tillhör de band som brukar betecknas som glamrockens riktigt stora och deras genombrott kom 1971 med singeln 'Get down and get with it', bandet hade dock bildats redan 1966 som ett skinheadband. Bandet har haft ett 30-tal singlar på Englandslistan och deras 'Merry Xmas Everybody' är en riktig julklassiker som än idag brukar noteras på listorna vid jultid. Bandets frontman var Noddy Holder som hade en typiskt raspig rockröst. Han lämnade dock bandet 1991 sedan man släppt det floppande albumet 'Wall of hits'. Holder har på senare år ägnat sig åt TV-dramor och att vara radio-DJ. Nuvarande upplaga av Slade bildades 1993, då under namnet Slade II, och bandets medlemmar är Dave Hill och Don Powell (båda originalmedlemmar) samt Mal McNulty och John Berry."
Örnsköldsvik Tigerskinnsbyxorna smiter åt kring rockrumpan, paljettlinnet glittrar i scenljuset, Dave Hill har en gitarr med lysdioder. De bär i och för sig inte platåskor men på den här trånga scenen är det förmodligen smart. Ja, gainomaxen i drickakylen är det enda som skvallrar om att Brux normalt är något annat än en glamrockklubb. Slade är i stan.
Legendarisk glamrock för hela pengen, när Slade kom till Ö-vik. Bästa låten för kvällen var enligt Allehandas utsände We’ll bring the house down från 1981.

650 betalande och fullsatt gör att lokalen blir lika härligt sillpackad som vanligt. Och Slade kör alla sina hittar. My oh my, We’ll bring the house down (blytung!) och Cum on feel the noize. Och naturligtvis Mama weer all crazee now, som numera hörs i JC-reklamen med Entourage-stjärnan Adrian Grenier. På slutet trär de på sig tomteluvor och spelar sin största hit Merry xmas everybody.
Supportakten Trace of Lords spelar också. De är aktuella som finalister i en bandtävling. T.O.L är ett ganska intetsägande rockband men verkar i alla fall vara bättre på att skruva ljud än Slade, som mest låter som ett bullrande basmangel.
Gamla tiders Slade var alls inte nån dålig rockgrupp. Deras hemliga recept var att ta hejaklackramsor från fotbollsstadion och klä dem i rockdräkt. Och mer passande musik för ett ölparty kan man knappast hitta.
Men allt är inte guld och gröna paljetter. Om du sett skräckfilmen Jurtjyrkogården känner du igen historien om pappan som begraver sin döde son på en förbannad kyrkogård. Sonen kommer tillbaka - levande. Men det är inte riktigt samma son... Slade år 2008 är lite som den filmen. Det är Slade... men ändå inte. Förgrundsfiguren Noddy Holder har slutat för länge sedan. Och visst kan man överleva ett hårt avbräck men riktigt så intressanta är inte Slade. Visst, hellre ett tajt, nytt band än det gamla utan energi. Slade på Brux är däremot varken eller. ”Onödigt” är det bestående intrycket.
Att det sen är full fest och bra drag, är helt och hållet publikens förtjänst. De fixar festen själva. Och tur är väl det.

– Min far kjøpte en gitar til meg via postordre når jeg var 13. Pappa ville ikke bruke mye penger på den, i tilfelle det ikke skulle bli noe av, forklarer Hill.
– Men, til tross for at det var en dårlig gitar, var det den som startet det hele. Fem år etterpå, i ‘63, møtte jeg Don Powell, og da var det gjort. Siden har vi nærmest delt livet sammen, på godt og vondt.

De har spilt for 100.000 på en gang, men synes det er det samme om det er for 1000.
– Dette er vårt kall i livet, og hver kveld går vi ut og gir alt. Kontakten med publikum gir oss masse tilbake, og vi tenker ikke på at vi har sunget mange av de samme sangene i 40 år. De blir nye hver gang.
Ny plate
Senere i år kommer bandet med ny plate, den første siden 1987.
– Det blir en blanding av gamle og nye låter. Vi starter opp innspillingen om to uker, og regner med og ha den klar før jul, avslører Hill. En av bandets aller største hits er «Merry Xmas everybody»
– Vi har ikke helt bestemt hvilke sanger som skal være med enda, men julesangen må vel være med, siden platen gis ut på den tiden.
Og, selv om datoen sa 6. august, var dette en av sangene som ble spilt på lørdagens konsert. Sammen med «My oh my», «Far, Far away» og mange andre av bandets hit’er.

Legendariske band fortsetter år etter år å komme til Gressvik Summerweekend og i år så kommer det en ny sleger. Nemlig SLADE
Slade var kanskje det mest fremtredende glamrock-bandet på 70-tallet. De var på sitt beste når de utnyttet sine røtter, elementer av enkel allsangpreget pubmusikk. Da Slade var på toppen av sin karriere var de det mestselgende bandet i England. De mest kjente sangene er trolig Merry Xmas Everybody (desember 1973), My oh My og Far Far Away, som fremdeles i dag spilles mye på radio.
Slade huskes nok best for sine fantastiske sceneshow, og selvfølgelig sin lange rekke med hits. Fra 1971 til 1974 kom Slade med tolv topp-5 hits, seks av disse toppet listene. Totalt hadde Slade sytten topp-20 hits mellom 1971 og 1976, i tillegg til de seks førsteplassene, hadde de tre andreplasser, og to tredjeplasser. Ingen andre band i England hadde så mye suksess på hitlistenes topp 40.De solgte også mer singler enn noen andre band på 1970-tallet.
Og Lørdag 6.August kommer denne gjengen til Gressvik. Så her er det bare å ta med seg glamfaktoren og reise til Gressvik torg.

"Hundreds of London children in deprived areas will be taught by celebrities for a week as part of a scheme to inspire them.
Musician Noddy Holder, an Olympic gold medallist, and Apprentice finalist Claire Young will be among those taking classes at some of the most challenging schools.
It comes as chef Jamie Oliver's latest TV project, Dream School, shows celebrities teaching pupils who have dropped out of mainstream education.
The latest "celebrity teacher" scheme is run by Teach First, a charity that places top graduates in deprived schools for two years before they go on to other jobs. The week-long event starts on Monday and it is the seventh year the charity has run the event."

"Far far away" von Slade
1974: Die Terrakotta-Armee wird in China entdeckt - und Slade veröffentlichen "Far far away".
Die Glam-Rock-Ära ist voll im Gange. Die Bühnenkostüme werden immer opulenter, die Frisuren ausgefallener und das Make Up schriller. Mittendrin mausern sich Slade zur erfolgreichsten britischen Band nach der Trennung der Beatles. Doch 1973 der Schicksalsschlag: Schlagzeuger Don Powell hat vollgepumpt mit Alkohol einen schweren Autounfall. Seine Freundin kommt uns Leben und er verliert Gedächtnis und Geschmackssinn. Erstmals seit Jahren hält die Band inne und macht eine Pause. Nach Powells Genesung feiern die Rocker von Slade dann ihr Comeback mit melancholischen Balladen. In "Far far away" beschreibt Sänger Noddy Holder zum Beispiel sein Heimweh während der Tourneen. Der Song wird ein Riesenhit und beweist, dass Slade auch mit ruhigen Tönen große Erfolge feiern können.

Slade play in St. Petersburg, Russia at October concert hall on Wednesday 3rd November 2010. Dave Hill was in the studio of Radio Roks on Tuesday evening 2nd November. Slade were in the same studio in April 2010, when they played in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Rock Classics cruising Stockholm - Marienhamn - Stockholm 28.-29.10.2010
Slade will play on Thursday 28th October on the Silja Galaxy ferry. Rock klassiker cruising starts from Stockholm's Värtahamnen port on Thursday at 19:30 local time and Silja Galaxy will be back in the same place on Friday at 18:15.

Die "night of legends", veranstaltet vom Förderverein des Musikvereins Schemmerhofen, entwickelt sich so langsam aber sicher selbst schon zur Legende unter den Livemusikfans der Region. Am Samstag, 16. Oktober wird die Mühlbachhalle in Schemmerhofen wieder beben, wenn sich ab 20 Uhr die Jungs von "Slade" und ab 22 Uhr "Helter Skelter" die Ehre geben.
"Slade" sind auf der Bühne immer noch eine beeindruckende Macht und bieten mit unbestechlicher Kompetenz eine einmalige Show, mit der sie ständig neue Fans gewinnen. Und das - kein Aprilscherz! - seit dem 1. April 1966, als sie in der Town Hall im englischen Wallsall ihr allererstes Live-Konzert gaben! Slade guitarist Dave Hill is back on form at Rock With Laughter launch

"SLADE guitarist Dave Hill was a picture of health as he made his first public appearance since suffering a stroke in July.
Grandfather Dave, 64, joined soul singer Beverley Knight and comedian turned Shakespeare actor Lenny Henry at a launch event for the Rock With Laughter concert, which takes place from December 10 to 12 at the LG Arena.
The Wolverhampton star joked with his fellow celebrities, revealing that he first spotted Beverley when she starred in a production of Grease as a pupil at Highfields School in Penn – as Dave was in the audience with his daughter, who was herself a student there at the time.
Dave said of his illness: “My speech was all slurred and my blood pressure was about 250. Stress was a factor – I was probably doing a bit too much. But I feel very positive now.”
Lenny, 52, revealed he was planning to make an autobiographical film about growing up in Dudley in the 70s.
Beverley, 37, said she had two new albums planned, to be released through her own label – one of British soul covers and the other with original material."

"BLACK Country rock heroes Slade are not arranging any new dates after it was confirmed that guitarist Dave Hill will be out of action for at least two more months.
Flamboyant Dave, 64, suffered a stroke at a gig in Germany in July, prompting the immediate cancellation of shows in Sweden and Switzerland.
It was initially thought he would be back performing within a month but a spokeswoman for the six-times chart-topping group said he was still awaiting the all-clear."

"Foot Stomping Slade has had to pull out from their gig at the Riviera International Conference Centre Torquay on the 14th August! Organised by My Glitterballs Promotions Limited the concert has been cancelled following the news that Dave Hill co-founder of Slade suffered a minor stroke whilst on tour in Germany.
“Dave is devastated that he is not going to play in the Bay in 2 weeks’ time particularly as he was born in the local area and recently had a nostalgic trip down memory lane when he revisited his birthplace at Flete House in Ermington. It was a very minor stroke and I am delighted to say that Dave is doing fine and is well on the road to a full recovery. Doctor’s orders are, however, that he needs a few weeks off to fully rest and recuperate to ensure he is fighting fit for future tour dates. The fantastic news is that Slade are determined not to let the Torquay fans down and are to re-schedule a new date in December subject to availability. To have Slade play live at Christmas will be absolutely mind blowing.” says John Ross of My Glitterballs Promotions Limited.
Local Glamrock fans should not be too disheartened as John Ross has secured the legendary Glitter Band to play at the RICC on the 14th August supported by Heroes. The Glitter Band were the original musicians who backed Gary Glitter on his hit records under the direction of the late great Mike Leander and then went on to have a string of international Top 10 hits in their own right, including Angel Face, Goodbye My Love and Let’s Get Together Again.
“Tickets sales for Slade were going extremely well and I didn’t want to disappoint the Glitterballs Glam Rock fans so I am very excited to announce that The Glitter Band has stepped into the breach. They are supported by Heroes who are one of the few bands that can capture the energy and attitude of New Wave and turn it into one hell of a good live show! "Mark went away in May doing a short UK and then European tour with Magnum, as is his want. In his absence Sheena has been very busy with Jim Lea.
Jim is nearing completion of his "String Theory" album which has taken a few twist and turns in its evolution. Originally with great virtual instruments available we planned to achieve his string arrangements with keyboards and an occasional real violin on top (those of you old enough will remember Jim not only played bass and wrote songs for Slade but also played violin).
But during May after a number of experiments with some printed scores and multi-tracked violins we decided to re-record most of the string parts for real, Jim playing them all, and create his own 'orchestra' (aka the JLO).
Armed with his 2 new violins, one inherited from his grandfather, 2 violas, a cello and a multitude of others borrowed from Turner Violins in Birmingham, Jim has been recording his orchestra one person at a time (with an occasional oboe part from Sheena). It may sound long winded but the results are sounding very impressive.
To enhance the realism of the whole affair we have also done some location recording at the CBSO Centre, and the local RC Church in Codsall. Upon Mark's return we also enjoyed a visit from the friendly guys of cool black and white mustelid roadsters – The Icelandic Traffic Badgers back in again to do some more tracks."
Slade's performance at Vostertrock at Bree in Belgium on 22nd August has been cancelled. As "a replacement" Mud has been added in the list and John Berry will play with them - a berry in the mud.

But the band — whose most enduring hit is the raucous festive favourite — will be in town for a Christmas party at Pure nightclub on the harbourside in December instead.
Now the Glitter Band will take their place at the top of the bill for a party night at the ERC on August 14.
The reason for the reshuffle is that Slade guitarist Dave Hill has suffered a minor stroke and the Torquay gig is one of a number they have been forced to call off.
Promoter John Ross said: "I understand that Dave is going to make a full recovery, but at the moment, he is not well enough to perform.
"However, we are delighted that the band are planning to come back in December.
"Pure is on the site of the old 400 Ballroom, and that's where Slade played when they first came to Torquay."
Hill, who is 64, performs with original Slade drummer Don Powell in the band.
His agent Abi Carter said Hill was on the road to recovery, and described it as a "very, very, very mild stroke".
The Glitter Band will be supported by Kent rockers Heroes on August 14."
The concert of Slade at Wertheim on Sunday 8th August has been cancelled because of Dave Hill´s health problems. The concert is delayed to 26th November in the Main-Tauber-Halle,Wertheim. Tickets for Sunday are also valid for the concert in November.

Hundreds of Slade fans from across the world have posted get well messages on a website that has been set up to wish stricken guitarist Dave Hill a speedy recovery.
The 64-year-old suffered a minor stroke after coming off stage in Germany 11 days ago. He is recovering at his home in Wolverhampton after flying back to the UK at the weekend.

Nach einem leichten Schlaganfall von Slade-Gründungsmitglied Dave Hill kann die Kultband aus den 70er Jahren am Donnerstag, 22. Juli, nicht auf der Classic Rock Night in Neuötting auftreten. Smokie und Sweet werden den Abend dennoch zu einem unvergleichlichen Rockerlebnis machen. Dave Hill erlitt am 10. Juli einen leichten Schlaganfall und wurde ins Klinikum Nürnberg eingeliefert. Ärzte und Tourneeveranstalter gingen zunächst davon aus, dass Hill schnell wieder auf der Bühne stehen könnte, inzwischen haben die Ärzte Dave Hill jedoch ein Auftrittsverbot für weitere zehn Tage erteilt. Aufgrund des kurzfristigen Ausfalls war es nicht möglich einen adäquaten Ersatz für die Band zu finden. Die Classic Rock Night findet wie geplant mit den Bands Smokie und Sweet statt.

The Live and Unsigned Festival is an all day event, packed full of entertainment and will play host to an eclectic mix of artists. Slade sind eine Legende. Um ihren Auftritt im Steinlachtal scheinen sich derzeit aber auch Legenden zu ranken. Mancher in der Großen Kreisstadt würde „Mössingen rockt“ nämlich am liebsten zum Unwort des Jahres deklarieren. Dabei geht es nicht um musikalische Geschmacksfragen. Auch gibt es keine Angst vor Krawallmachern. ...
Von solchen Irritationen lässt sich Slade sicher nicht so leicht aus dem Rhythmus bringen. Seit ihrer Gründung im Jahr 1966 spielt die Gruppe ihren stampfenden und röhrenden Sound. Und am 26. Juni will die Band auf den Mössinger Hegwiesen gute Laune und Harmonie verbreiten. Ganz nach dem Motto: „We can all swing together, my oh my.“

Die Aufbauarbeiten sind abgeschlossen, am Dienstagabend starten auf dem Hallmarkt die diesjährigen “Händels Open”. Das Festival wird komplett ohne städtische Zuschüsse organisiert. ...
Einen Tag später gibt es die Multimediashow „Klangfarben der Natur“ nach Vivaldi´s „ Die 4 Jahreszeiten“, unter anderem mit der chinesischen Geigenvirtuosin Mo Yi und unter der musikalischen Leitung von Lutz Gerlach. Die Glamrock-Band Slade (My oh my, Far far away) spielt am 27. Mai. Romantisch wird es am 28. Mai, wenn der französische Pianist Richard Clayderman nach Halle kommt. Am 29. Mai erwartet die Besucher unter dem Titel “Invisible Touch” eine Phil Collins- und Genesis-Covershow. Am 30. Mai steht vormittags Gerhard Schöne auf der Bühne und am Abend erwartet sie Nina Hagen mit ihrer Band. Am 31. Mai heißt es The Great Pretender & Das Akademische Orchester. Den Abschluss bildet am 1. Juni Shakin Stevens und seine Band.
Alle Konzerte beginnen um 21:00 Uhr, Einlass ist ab 18:30 Uhr mit Ausnahme von Gerhard Schöne. Er ist bereits um 11:00 Uhr zu erleben.
