Von we’ll bring the house down über Look wot u dun, Cum on feel the noize und My oh my waren alle Hits dabei.

May 2010 Great British Classic at Traditional French Restaurant
Eat the Midland 25.05.2010:
Local diners at the New Bambers Restaurant were treated to two great British Classics today. While some tucked into perfectly cooked great local steaks, others were amazed to see a rather more famous British Classic. Noddy Holder, of Rock group Slade was quietly enjoying a great British meal himself. He was the guest of local artist Tim Bingham and his brother David who are local painters based just outside Bridgnorth. They are working on series of portraits called ‘People Of Our Time’ which is a collection of portraits of people who they personally like, a celebration of British culture.
Chef Patron of the newly opened Bambers, commented “I have worked in many restaurants with famous guests at L’ortelon in Reading (sister restaurant of Ludlow La Becasse) where we would cook for many A list celebs, but it was a personal pleasure to see Noddy – he is a real hero of mine, and it was great to hear how much he enjoyed our simple French Modern European style cuisine. He also commented on how good the local steaks were”. Matt has returned to the region after many years, working with some of the UK’s finest chefs including John Burton-race.
Bambers which is hidden away down St Marys street has been a popular destination for many of the regions discerning diners, and has now re-opened Tuesdays-Sunday lunch and evenings. See how they have been rated by diners & rate for yourself:

Don Powell at John Lennon’s 30 years memoriam concert in Denmark 8.12.2010
Don Powell will play at John Lennon’s memoriam concert in Denmark on 8th December 2010.
...

The Al McKay Allstars. Die Glamrock-Band Slade (My oh my, Far far away) spielt am 27. Mai. Mai heißt es The Great Pretender & Das Akademische Orchester. Und den Abschluss bildet am 1. Juni Shakin Stevens mit seiner Band. Alle Konzerte beginnen um 21 Uhr mit Ausnahme von Gerhard Schöne. Erst ist bereits um 11 Uhr zu erleben.

19.05.2010 Ringblad: Variert program under Jevnaker-dagene
"Både Slade, Fantorangen, Hallgrim Berg og Knut Jørgen Røed Ødegård står på programmet under Jevnaker-dagene 3. - 6. juni.

Mark Radcliffe, Paul Cookson and Noddy Holder
POET PAUL COOKSON'S SLADE PAGE
"Slade were the first band I ever loved with Cum On Feel The Noize. I quickly backtracked and discovered their history and have been a fan ever since.
They’ve always featured in my poems – either as main subject matter or reference points. Years ago, I did a book called "Over 21 And Still Into Noddy" which Noddy Holder kindly wrote an introduction for. I’ve quoted it and used it endlessly since!
"Read on and I guarantee that you won’t be disappointed" – Noddy Holder "
Mark and Nod also provided backing vocals for a couple of poems.

Kassebil feirer jubileum
This anniversary celebrates Ford. It is well on its place to the more celebrated gray workhorses once in a while. Looking at the pictures the car has actually been on quite a lot of things through the years

Dave Hill and Don Powell interview by Metal Mundus, Poland autumn 2009: "Fans have lived in a tree by my house!" Metal Mundus: You’re not visiting Poland for the first time. Did you enjoy the festival in the Valley of Charlotte, that took place on the last holiday season? Dave Hill: I remember that we liked it.Well we played there. I like coming to Poland. At that time we had a tour lasting three and a half weeks...One should have a little bit longer time to get to know your country! The question, which in any decent history should be done (laughs), which bands have the greatest impact on the Slade? ... How did you get Mal McNulty in Slade? ... Do you know the typical life of rock and roll, destroying hotel rooms, etc.? (Laughs) ... What do think about the current solo career of the former lead singer Steve Whalley? "Run Runaway" is my favorite song from your repertoire. What is the text about actually? Dave Hill: I think about nothing! (Laughs) This song was created for fun. I think it is just a song, the text is merely playing with words, fun with words, rhymes, you see? Nothing special! "I like black and white, dreaming in black and white!” is simply cool, huh? Thanks for the interview and taking your valuable time to 5 minutes before the concert!
While we're at the concert, do you remember what was the most successful concert for you?
Dave Hill: We played lots of concerts, which were very successful....One such show that particularly stuck in my mind replacing Ozzy Osbourne himself, who resigned at the last minute of the show... Especially nice ones in my memory are gigs done in the Czech Republic, Russia, Poland ...
...
Dave Hill: Inspiration is what you really listened then. Rhythm'n'blues had a huge impact on us! It was our youth. I remember in the beginnings of learning to play the guitar - I listened to and imitated artists like The Shadows, Buddy Holly, Cliff Richard ... And then we began to explore the American scene, you know, Chuck Berry, the atmosphere.
Dave Hill: It was then that we were looking for a vocalist and it was a bull's eye. Mal is a guy with experience in this profession. He used to sing in Sweet, not just any band! Andy Scott from Sweet was our friend. He suggested that McNulty could start to cooperate with us.
Dave Hill: There, now we return to home, watering the roses, trimming hedges, we have tea at five o'clock (laughs).
Dave Hill: Steve has got now his own group and we haven’t seen him for a long time. He left because he wanted to create something of his own. We believe that he is doing well.
Dave Hill: Not a problem, thanks!

Beat Mag 2007: Rapid fire interview with the Slade guitarist
Slade were one of the biggest bands in British history and Dave Hill was their guitarist. He still is. Hill and drummer Don Powell continue to tour as Slade although the original line-up, with Noddy Holder on vocals and Jim Lea on bass, split in 1991. After paying their dues on the live circuit in the Midlands from the mid-‘60s onwards, the Wolverhampton band finally broke through in 1971. Managed by ex-Animal and Jimi Hendrix manager Chas Chandler, Slade had a unique run of hit singles through to 1975, including six No.1s, three of which went straight in at the top. The 1975 film ‘Flame’ and accompanying album ‘Slade In Flame’ broke their spell with the public, being musically more sophisticated than previous glam-stomping outings, but it has since been critically revaluated and is often regarded as their best work. As much heavy rock as glam, Slade weathered the punk years and reappeared in the wake of a triumphant appearance at the Reading Festival in 1980. More hits followed and the 1973 song ‘Merry Christmas Everybody’ remains the UK’s favourite seasonal anthem.
Thomas H Green caught up with Dave Hill, freshly returned form dates in Denmark, to ask him questions from Beatmag’s readers and contributors
If you had a time machine, where would you go?
Keith Anderson, London, UK
Dave Hill: “I might like to pop in on Wordsworth up in the Lake District about 200 years ago. I’d pop in and say, ‘Nice piece of work you wrote there, mate’.”
Did you ever have to ask Noddy to keep it down?
Jonny Reggae, Beatmag
DH: “I didn’t have to tell him that because I was always louder than him – my guitar, that is.”
...
Did you hate punk and disco?
Gerry, Birmingham, UK
DH: “I didn’t warm towards the more extreme punk, the spitting and all that, that was just a passing phase. There was some good music – The Stranglers were good – and good clothes and tee-shirts. I shaved my head at the time and had become a bit of a Kojak of rock’n’roll. I adapted a bit to what they were up to. They were a reaction to the business at the time because it was all boring and about old bands but, like everything, a lot of people got on the bandwagon.”
...
Do you keep abreast of modern music?
Terry Waller, Edinburgh, UK
DH: “I bought The Killers album, I bought Razorlight’s because I like the ‘America’ song, I bought Kaiser Chiefs because they sound a bit like the ‘70s. I quite like The Feeling and James Morrison is a really good singer. I like James Blunt. He invited me to his show at the Civic Hall in Wolverhampton, only to be treated to a version of ‘Coz I Luv You’.”
...
How’s it going? Do you often get recognized?
Dave, UK
DH: “I always get recognized but not every minute of the day. How’s it going? Well, we’re touring very successfully – we had an album, ‘Keep On Rockin’’, in 1994 and we’ll probably make a new one this year. We’re quite a happy group – we play to 500 people one night in a club and to 15-20,000 people the next night at festivals in different countries – Russia, Czechoslovakia, Poland.”
...
What’s your favourite Slade song?
Randy Metznik, New York, USA
DH: “’How Does It Feel?’ is a very good tune but I do enjoy playing ‘My Oh My’, a big Slade ballad from the ‘80s and I’ve a lot of nice guitar parts in it.”
...
What was the person you were most excited to have met?
Ronnie Daniels, Baltimore, USA
DH: “I met pretty well most people. I met Hank Marvin on occasion and my first true love was his guitar playing on the instrumentals. We never met Elvis and Elton, well, he was just someone else successful at the same time who’d come and watch us and we’d watch him. People used to turn up like James Hunt, the famous racing driver, he was a fan. We’ve never been into the royalty – Prince Charles and that lot never bothered with us.”
...
How did you feel when Noddy left?
Jezza, Melbourne, Australia
DH: “Disappointed. It was a bit difficult. When he got into what he was doing I felt a little bit miffed but I had to recognize he has a life of his own.”
...
Any chance of the original line-up getting back together?
Billy Martin, Reading, UK
DH: “I suppose pigs might fly. I very much doubt it. It’s mainly Nod. I’m sure if Nod would change his mind but it would be very difficult for him as he hasn’t sung for 15-20 years. I very much doubt he’d want to do it now. If it meant dragging him onstage for a couple of songs it’d be rather nice but I really don’t see it. I’d do it.”
'Misunderstanding' means Slade will not be at Dawlish Warren festival in August 2010
Amber Coast Events today issued a retraction after Slade's representatives said the rockers had never been booked for the three-day Amber Coast Festival.
Slade's representatives said the band were due to play in Torquay two weeks earlier and for 'contractual reasons' would not revisit the area so quickly.
Last month Amber Coast Events revealed Slade was one of the acts 'confirmed' to take part in the festival which runs from August 28 until 30.
But it later retracted that following a 'misunderstanding'.
In a statement Amber Coast Events said: "Amber Coast Festival have to announce that due to unforeseen circumstances Slade will not be appearing at this year's festival.
"Amber Coast Festival are planning other acts to replace Slade and apologise for any misunderstanding and inconvenience caused to any venue or persons."

06.05.2010 TV Review: Heston's 70s Feast
This nostalgic reductionism was written by thirty-something cultural commentators looking back at their childhoods with elaborate fondness, many of them turning up on TV shows like I Love the 70s with desperate glints in their eyes. While it's only natural to romanticise your formative years, this superficial image of the 1970s as a flare-clad fantasia is still one of the biggest clichés in popular culture.
...
He also created his own Pot Noodle using a Play-Doh maker in Harrods' toy department. He should've gone the whole hog and done it while bouncing around on a space hopper singing Cum on Feel the Noize."
Living Scotsman Hestons review
Kyseessä on brittiläinen rockbändi Slade.
Mieleeni tuli nostalgisia muistoja Sladen iskevästä konsertista vuodelta 1974.
- Gudbuy To Jane
- Mama Weer All Crazee Now
- Move Over
- Bangin´Man
- Thank´s For The Memory
- Look Wot You Dun
- Lock Up Your Daughters
- My Friend Stan
- Cum on Feel The Noize
- Take Me Back´Ome
- Get Down And Get With It
- When The Lights Are Out

Set in 1974, All Over Brazil is the story of a teenage boy who is obsessed with his favourite glam rock band, much to his football fanatic father's disapproval.
In suburban Glasgow, 13-year-old Stephen is keener on seeing his favourite glam rock band in concert than following the progress of Scotland's World Cup football squad. However, Stephen's football fanatic father, Charley, isn't about to let "nancy boy music" turn his son's head away from sporting glory. Soon Stephen's hopes of following his glam rock idols appear to be dashed after his father catches him in his sister Donna's gold platform boots and full glam make-up. Desperate to go to a local glam rock gig performed by his idols slade, Stephen decides to pull on his platform shoes, get glammed up and go to the gig against his father's wishes.
