MÖSSINGEN. Nachmittags noch in Dänemark auf der Bühne, abends dann im Steinlachtal: Die Rockstars fliegen ein. Smokie nehmen den Privatjet, um beim Festival auf den Mössinger Hegwiesen dabei zu sein.

An Slade haben die Fans im Steinlachtal die besten Erinnerungen. Die Jungs aus Wolverhampton mit der komischen Aussprache und der ebenso merkwürdigen Rechtschreibung entpuppten sich schon im vorigen Jahr als Publikums-Lieblinge. Irgendwer hat's nachgerechnet: Hits wie »Cuz I luv you«, »Far Far Away« und etliche andere waren 271 Wochen in den britischen Charts. Nur die Beatles und die Stones haben es länger in diese schwindelerregenden Höhen geschafft.

Gewissermaßen als Sahnehäubchen wird der Auftritt der Rattles offeriert. Die legendäre Band spielt nicht nur Titel aus den alten Star-Club-Zeiten, sondern war vor wenigen Jahren im Studio, um neue Songs aufzunehmen.
Veranstalter Willi Wrede hat gestern angekündigt, dass die dritte Auflage von »Mössingen rockt« auch die Letzte sein wird. Das Festival sei »untrennbar mit der Person und dem unermüdlichen Einsatzwillen von OB Werner Fifka verbunden«. Weil Fifka im Rathaus aufhört, sagen auch die Rocker tschüss. (GEA)

Glam was glorious. Brought on by rock's self indulgent pretensions in 1970, when psychedelia and progressive rock were at their peak, it brought a satin and sequin-fuelled return to the frivolous basics of rock 'n' roll and created the biggest, brightest, shiniest beast the music business had seen.

By late 1972 their music was dominating the charts and their flamboyant fashions were influencing the bands of the day. The Birth Of Glam explores their journey to the forefront of the movement and the influence they had on their peers. Suddenly rock bands like Sweet, Slade, Mud, Wizzard, Gary Glitter and Alvin Stardust, who had been carving out solid but unspectacular careers for several years, added satin and sequins to their stage outfits and rode the crest of the glam wave.

Noddy Holder in Radio Amnesty campaign
Guardian 20.05.2010 Mark Sweeney and John Plunkett:
"A month long radio set "scrappage" scheme designed to get listeners to switch to digital receivers is to be backed by a major marketing campaign featuring Stephen Fry, Noddy Holder and Gaby Roslin.
The campaign, called the Radio Amnesty, offers consumers a discount on a new digital radio in exchange for trading in an old analogue set.
Retailers signed up for the scrappage scheme, which will run from 22 May to 26 June and see consumers get discounts of at least 10% on digital sets, include Argos, Comet, John Lewis and Tesco.

The aim of the campaign, launched by Digital Radio UK, is to help achieve a government target of 50% of all radio listening being via digital services including radios, TV or the internet by 2013. If this can be achieved the analogue radio signal will be switched off in 2015. In the first three months of 2010 digital accounted for 24% of all radio listening.
Developed by ad agency AMV BBDO, which handled the campaign behind digital TV switchover, the radio commercials will feature Fry, Roslin and Holder.
They will run across commercial networks including Classic FM, Absolute Radio, TalkSport and more than 100 local stations."

"RARE AND UNSEEN" DVD IN SEPTEMBER 2010
A new Slade DVD "Rare and unseen" will be released on 20th September 2010. The DVD will consist of rare and unseen interviews footage.

WizzaFest 2010: Karen McKee
"Karen McKee a singer songwriter from Liverpool was a well known female rock vocalist on the rock circuit in the Northwest Circuit that began playing in the 1980’s. She began working with Mick Devonport (from the band NUTZ/Rage ) In the early 1980’s. They recorded a number of numbers with some of the rock glitterati at the time, Steve Mitchell , drummer from Panda Division, John Feeney from ‘Black’ and Mike Railton Keyboard player, from ‘Flock of Seagulls’, ‘Sting’ but to name a few and the songs were produced by ‘Saxon’s’ producer Pete Hinton.
The next major project Karen worked on was with some of the former members of ‘Slade’ and ‘Wizzard’, she had the privilege of Noddy Holder doing her backing vocals.
Her next recording project took her to the Scorpion’s studios in Hannover Germany. She was employed to write an album and worked with some of Germany’s rock greats; Henny Wolter, guitarist (Primal Fear), Arndt Schultz , guitarist (Jane) and Phillipe Candas , Drums (The Ordeal).
On returning from Germany Karen continued to work on various recordings and gigs but took a long sabbatical to bring up her family. A recent book called ‘Plug Inn volume two’ has resulted in Karen’s return to the rock circuit and there are gigs and recordings to look forward to in the near future."

Live and Unsigned's green light for TrafficSound

GODALMING indie rockers TrafficSound have climbed their way to the Live and Unsigned 2010 national finals being held at London’s O2 on July 10.
...
The final being held at the O2’s own IndigO2 will be judged by a panel consisting of Radio 1’s Ras Kwame, R&B star Shola Ama and Slade’s very own Noddy Holder.
“A night in front of Noddy is daunting but also exciting as we’d like to impress him and the music industry,” TrafficSound said.

Due to weather conditions Weingarten Open Air (12.6.2010) has been moved to 18th December 2010 in the Culture and Congress Centrum of Weingarten.

Das Wetter ist schuld, wenn das Weingarten-Open-Air nicht so stattfinden kann, wie ursprünglich geplant. Wie die Stadtverwaltung soeben mitteilte, fällt lediglich die Auftaktveranstaltung mit den Rattles am Freitag, 11. Juni, aus.
Das Konzert mit Boney M., Chris Thompson, Slade, Sailor, Mud II und den Rubettes wird jedoch stattfinden – allerdings nicht am 12. Juli, sondern erst am 18. Dezember; die Karten, die dafür bereits verkauft wurden, behalten ihre Gültigkeit. "

Frauen - wieso am Rande? im Zentrum! des Nervenzusammenbruchs:
Anfang des Jahrtausends verkleideten sich vier Schwesternschülerinnen aus Mönchengladbach als schwule Skinheads und gründeten die Glam-Rock-Band SLADE. Ihre Tarnung war so perfekt, dass selbst die Groupies nichts bemerkten; nicht einmal sie selbst, als sie sich als ihre eigenen Groupies verkleideten.
Mit ihrer Hymne Mama, weer all crazee now schockten sie das Establishment und lieferten damit das Motto zur Kulturhauptstadt 2010.
Heute sind sie glücklich und leben unter falschem Namen in einer öko-therapeutischen Wohngemeinschaft in Nippes.

Faktiskt, Nicke Anderssons (aka. Nicke Hellacopters, aka Nicke Royals) nya Stockholmsbaserade band har valt Helsingfors, och dessutom lilla Loose, som debutvenue.
...
Vad Anderssons än hittat på – rock, soul eller metal – har han alltid fått ett otroligt varmt välkomnande i Finland, och Imperial State Electric är inget undantag.
...
Många nämner Kiss när de hör ISE.
– Det är ju så lätt att säga när alla vet jag älskar Kiss. Men det är klart, jag älskar ju 70-talet, det som punken inte reagerade mot – Slade, Kiss, T-Rex och sån tidlös boogie."
